My work uses video as a tool for observation. I am interested in how we look at and interpret reality, and I approach it from three directions that keep returning in my films: memory, the physicality of matter, and an analytical reading of phenomena.
I often start from a simple gesture or hypothesis, dough rising through the night, a world from which people suddenly disappear, the singularity of a black hole, and let image, sound and voice build a space for reflection around it. Time is the common material: the time of work, the time of physics, the time of memory.
Alongside this I work as an editor and director across documentary, contemporary art and fashion. Working every day with other people’s images feeds my own research, and the other way around.
